  • Are my medications legal in Greece?
Although medication inspections by the authorities in the airports and ports are rare in Greece, you are strongly encouraged to carry a copy of your prescription with you, both at your arrival and departure. Make sure the name on the prescription is exactly the same as the name on your passport and your medications are packed in their original container. Also, ensure not to bring higher quantinty of medications than the prescribed one or the quantity you need for the length of your stay. Here, is a database of the Greek National Organization of Medicines (ΕΟΦ) where you can check if your medication (active substance) has marketing authorization in Greece, meaning it's legal and you can buy it at the pharmacy stores as well. Please note: If your medication is listed in National Organization of Medicines' database you still have to carry a copy of your substriction, provided it's not an over-the-counter (OTC) medication in Greece. You can check if your medication in Greece is listed as OTC here. If your medication is not listed in the database or if you need more information, you are advised to contact the Greek National Organization of Medicines (ΕΟΦ): By telephone: 0030 213 2040 395 / 285 / 225 / 000 By email: clearance@eof.gr / relation@eof.gr
  • Will I be able to buy medications as a tourist in Rhodes if needed?
For over-the-counter (OTC) medications you simply walk into a pharmacy store and buy them. For prescription medications (Rx medications), you need to visit a doctor first, reveive a prescription and then visit a pharmacy store to buy it. To check if your medication has marketing authorization in Greece (sold in the country) check here - in Greece's National Organization for Medicines (ΕΟΦ). Tip: Brand names change from country to country, so you are adivsed to use the active substance of your medication for the search. However, be aware that due to ongoing disruptions in pharmaceutical supply chains there is a high chance your medication to have marketing authorization in Greece but not being available at the pharmacy stores.
  • Will I be able to conduct my bowel management program?
Whether you conduct your bowel management in the toilet or in the bed, most probably yes since all our suggested accommodations are accessible. Also, if you need any tools and/or materials, you may notify us in advance to have them available upon your arrival.
  • Is there a hospital to provide me with the necessary care if needed?
There are 2 hospitals in Rhodes, the Euromedica General Glinic of Rhodes (+30 22410 45000) which is private and located at Koskinou and the General Hospital of Rhodes "Andreas Papandreou" (+30 22413 60000 or 112) which is public and located at Rhodes city. Euromedica-the private hospital has emergency and surgical department as well as intensive care unit. The public hospital has an emergency department on duty 24/7 and if needed you may be transferred by air ambulance to Crete or Athens. Both hospitals are well-equipped and can offer a great array of healthcare services (check their websites or contact them if you can't find what you are looking for).
  • Who is going to take me to the hospital if needed?
If it's an emergency an ambulance will come and pick you up. If not, wonderaccess can take you to the hospital.
  • How far is the hospital?
The public "Rhodes general hospital" is about 6 km away from the city center. If you stay up to Kolympia (south-wise) you should expect to be in the hospital in 30-60 min in case of emergency. The private "Euromedica general clinic of Rhodes" is located at Koskinou, about 8.5 km away from the city center. If you stay up to Kolympia (south-wise) you should expect to be at Euromedica in 30-60 min in case of emergency as well.
  • Will I need to pay for hospital care in Rhodes?
Emergency care and emergency ambulance service is free-of-charge for everyone in Greece, no matter your citizenship. For non-emergency care: If you are a European Union citizen you can access public healthcare in Greece with an E111 card – the free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You may be charged or not, depending on the procedure, country of origin and the insurance scheme you are covered by. If you are a non-European Union citizen, you can expect to pay out-of-pocket for all the non-emergency care you received, provided you are not covered by travel insurance.
  • Do you provide care giver services?
No, we don't provide care giver services. However, we can help you find if you need so. Feel free to contact us.
  • Do medical personnel speak English in Rhodes?
Yes. Rhodes is a very touristic island and you can expect almost all healthcare staff to speak adequake level of English to communicate with.
  • Is it safe to drink tap water in Rhodes?
Yes. Although it may taste a bit of "salty", especially out the city of Rhodes, it is drinkable and safe to consume.
  • How do I get assistance to get off and on the plane?
RHO PRM arrival: To get assistance to disembark the airplane in Rhodes airport (RHO) you should request it from the airline you are flying with, your travel agency or your tour operator, at least 48 hours before your departure time (pre-notification). If you are "pre-notified" upon your arrival, you will wait no more than 20min to disembark your airplane. If you are NOT "pre-notified" upon your arrival, you will wait around 30min to disembark your airplane. RHO PRM departure: To get assistance to onboard your airplane in Rhodes airport (RHO) you should request it from the airline you are flying with, your travel agency or your tour operator, at least 48 hours before your departure time (pre-notification). Upon your arrival at the airport you should present yourself either at the respective airline’s check-in counters or at the airport’s designated PRM point—on the left-hand side of the check-in counters—and communicate your arrival to the provider of PRM Assistance Services. It's reccommended to go to the designated PRM point to skip the check-in counters' usually long lines. If you are "pre-notified" upon your arrival at the airport you should expect assistance within 20min. If not, 45min.
  • Does the Rhodes airport (RHO) have an accessible WC?
Yes, both at the arrival and departure sections. Ask your airport PRM assistance provider to point you in the closest one.
  • Who is going to help me with picking up my suitcases at Rhodes airport (RHO)?
If you are a "pre-notified" PRM—meaning you have notified your airline/travel agency/tour operator at least 48 before your departure that you require assistance, your provider of PRM assistance services will pick up your luggage and move them to your transfer's pick up spot. If you are NOT a "pre-notified" PRM—meaning you have notified your airline/travel agency/tour operator at least 48 before your departure that you require assistance, you may proceed at the designated PRM point (at the left of the check-in counters) and ask for assistance. There is only one exit, so you don't have to worry about missing them. If in any case he won't be able to find you he will contact you via the phone you gave for your booking.
  • What happens if my flight is delayed?
